Anti-Ragging Day/Anti-Ragging Week – 2026

Objective: “Anti-Ragging Day/Anti-Ragging Week – 2026” was organised on 12 August by Anti-Ragging Committee in association with IQAC at Maharishi University, Lucknow Campus. The objective of the "Anti-Ragging Day/Anti-Ragging Week – 2026" programme was to create awareness among students about the harmful effects and serious consequences of ragging and to promote a safe, respectful, inclusive, and ragging-free campus environment. The programme aimed to sensitize students towards mutual respect, empathy, discipline, and responsible behaviour, while reinforcing the University’s zero-tolerance policy towards ragging.

Event Details: The programme commenced with Guru Puja, which was followed by the welcome address delivered by Dr. Shikhar Verma, Dean Student Welfare. He welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members, and students and highlighted the significance of observing Anti-Ragging Day. He emphasized that every student has the right to pursue education in an atmosphere free from fear, humiliation, harassment, and discrimination.
Dr. Neeraj Jain, Dean Academics, addressed the gathering and stressed the importance of discipline, mutual respect, and responsible behaviour within the university community. She encouraged students to develop healthy interpersonal relationships and to contribute positively towards creating a supportive campus environment.
The gathering was further addressed by Dr. Girish Chhimwal, Registrar, Maharishi University, who emphasized the University's commitment to maintaining a strict and effective anti-ragging mechanism. He sensitized students about the serious academic, psychological, and social consequences of ragging and encouraged them to immediately report any incident or apprehension related to ragging.
Prof. (Dr.) Bhanu Pratap Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Maharishi University, addressed the gathering and reiterated the University's zero-tolerance policy towards ragging. He emphasized that a university should be a place where students feel secure, respected, and encouraged to grow academically and personally. He also urged students to uphold the dignity of the institution and to act as responsible members of the university community.
As part of the awareness programme, an anti-ragging video was screened for the students. The video highlighted the adverse consequences of ragging and conveyed the importance of empathy, mutual respect, friendship, and responsible conduct among students. The screening helped reinforce the message that ragging is not a form of entertainment or initiation but a serious form of misconduct that can have lasting consequences.
Following the video screening, Dr. Pawan Kumar Dixit, Chief Proctor, introduced the members of the Anti-Ragging Committee and Anti-Ragging Squad. He explained their responsibilities in preventing and addressing incidents of ragging on campus. Students were encouraged to approach the designated authorities without hesitation whenever they experience or witness any form of ragging.
An engaging Poster Presentation and Slogan Writing Competition was subsequently organized for the students. Participants expressed their views against ragging through creative posters and meaningful slogans. The activity provided students with an opportunity to communicate the message of dignity, equality, friendship, and a ragging-free campus in an innovative manner. The enthusiastic participation of students reflected their awareness and commitment towards maintaining a safe educational environment.
The programme also included Prize Distribution, where students who performed exceptionally well in the Slogan Writing and Poster Making Competitions were recognized and felicitated. The winners of the Slogan Writing Competition were:

The felicitation of the winners encouraged students to actively participate in awareness initiatives and promoted the values of creativity, social responsibility, dignity, and mutual respect.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Pranki Shukla(Dy. Chief Proctor, Maharishi University, Lucknow Campus). The programme was organized with the active participation of students, faculty members, and members of the Anti-Ragging Committee and Squad.

Students’ Feedback: The Anti-Ragging Day Celebration was a meaningful awareness initiative that sensitized students about the consequences of ragging and the importance of maintaining dignity and mutual respect within the university community.
