80th Independence Day Celebration

Organised by: Maharishi University of Information Technology (Lucknow Campus) in association with IQAC

Objective: The 80^th Independence Day Celebration, organised by Maharishi University of Information Technology, Lucknow, in association with IQAC, on 15^th August 2026, was held to honour India’s journey to freedom, foster a strong sense of patriotism among students, and motivate the younger generation to actively contribute to nation-building in accordance with the university’s vision and values.

Participating Students: Faculty, staff, and students.

Event Details: The programme commenced with flag hoisting and the National Anthem, followed by lamp lighting, a welcome address by Dr. Neeraj Jain (Dean Academics), and felicitation of the Chief Guest. Dr. Jain emphasised that Independence Day is not only a celebration of freedom but also an occasion to renew our commitment to national duties and responsibilities, with higher education institutions playing a vital role in nurturing skilled, ethical, innovative, scientifically minded, and socially responsible citizens who can contribute to India’s progress as a developed and globally empowered nation. Registrar Dr. Girish Chhimwal shared the updates on the significant expansion of the Maharishi Group with the recent establishment of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi International Agriculture Vishwavidyalaya near Kanpur, and emphasised upskilling the youth. His words inspired the gathering towards achieving academic excellence.

The highlight of the celebration was the Independence Day Address by Major General (Retd.) Dr. Shashi Kant Singh, who emphasised on internal security of the nation from various threats that hinder its progress. He also emphasised on the role of higher educational institutes in empowering and guiding the youth. His inspiring words encouraged everyone to embrace patriotism, discipline, responsibility, and service to the nation. The celebration was enriched by vibrant and patriotic student performances, including an inspiring speech by Suvrat Jain (MSOPS), soulful poetry recitations by Anubhav Pandey (MSOBM) and Vanshika Tiwari (MSOH), and a melodious group song presented by Saniya Bano, Shreya Singh, Sahil Ahmed, and Rupesh Singh (MSOET). The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Sapan Asthana, NSS Programme Officer, followed by refreshments.

 

The event reflected the spirit of national pride, unity, discipline, and responsible citizenship, leaving the university fraternity inspired and motivated.

The program was well organised by the Cultural Committee of the Lucknow Campus and meticulously anchored by Ms. Sanskriti Mishra (BA Sem. III, MSOH).

Students’ feedback: Students greatly appreciated the Chief Guest’s thought-provoking address on India’s rich history, national values, and the important role of youth in shaping the nation’s future.
