Free Health Checkup Camp

“Caring for Every Generation: From Vision to Women’s Health”

Organised by: Maharishi School of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Lucknow Campus), in association with EOGSC and IQAC, in collaboration with B. N. Hospital, Lucknow

Objective: The Maharishi School of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Maharishi University, Lucknow Campus) in association with  EOGSC (Equal Opportunity and Gender Sensitization Cell) and IQAC, organized a Free Eye & General Health Check-Up Camp on 13th August, 2026 with collaboration of B.N. Hospital, Lucknow, and with the objective of providing a free facility that can be easily availed by Maharishi University (Lucknow Campus) staff, during the prevailing season when incidence of infection is very common. The camp also promotes awareness about Gender sensitization and basic healthcare practices among children and staff of our university. It also aimed to promote the significance of role of the students towards society in the field of healthcare.

Participants: All teaching staff, non-teaching staff & students.

Event Details: The program commenced with the auspicious lighting of the lamp and a floral tribute to Goddess Sarasvati and His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

The health initiative was led by three consultant doctors from B.N. Hospital, Lucknow viz., Dr. Anita Singh (Gynaecology & Obstetrics), Dr. Neha Verma (Ophthalmology), and Dr. Avadhesh Singh (General Physician). They offered free consultations and comprehensive health assessments, addressing women’s health and gynaecological concerns, conducting detailed eye examinations with trial lenses, and providing general medical consultations, respectively. The doctors also highlighted the importance of seeking advice from qualified healthcare professionals before taking any medication. Free medicines were also provided to the participants as prescribed by the consulting doctors.

Student volunteers provided valuable assistance throughout the camp. Before meeting the doctors, they helped with the preliminary assessment of participants by recording basic health parameters, including weight, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation. Their responsible approach and professional conduct were appreciated by the visiting medical team.

The EOGSC members and Gender Champions actively supported the initiative by promoting equal access to healthcare and encouraging students, faculty, and staff to participate in these initiatives. Their efforts also helped create awareness about the importance of gender-sensitivity, respectful, and inclusive healthcare practices across the university community and society in wider sense.

Students’ Feedback: The students expressed that the initiative was highly beneficial for students as on campus learning opportunity through interaction with experienced healthcare professionals and apply their academic knowledge of hospital and clinical pharmacy in a practical community setting. The volunteering experience enhanced their understanding of patient care and strengthened their sense of social responsibility.

The collective efforts of everyone involved made the initiative meaningful and impactful in promoting health awareness, preventive healthcare, gender sensitivity, and community service within the university community.
