Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan

(“Gen Z against Addiction”)

Organised by: NSS Unit of Maharishi University of Information Technology in association with IQAC

Objective: Under the banner of My Bharat, National Service Scheme (NSS) (Maharishi University, Lucknow Campus), in association with IQAC, organized an anti-drug awareness programme Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan (“Gen Z against Addiction”), on 2^nd August 2026 with the objective of promoting a drug-free and developed India (Viksit Bharat). The primary objective of the programme was to create awareness among students and faculty members about the harmful effects of substance abuse and encourage them to actively participate in the anti-drug movement. The initiative aimed to inspire youth to adopt a healthy, responsible, and addiction-free lifestyle and contribute towards building a healthier and stronger society.

Event Details: The programme featured the live streaming of the address of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi Ji, inspiring the youth to contribute towards building a drug-free and developed India (Viksit Bharat). The Hon’ble Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports, Shri Mansukh Mandaviya Ji, also addressed the gathering during the streaming, emphasizing the vital role of youth in nation-building and creating a drug-free India.

During the event, the NSS volunteers and other attendees took the Digital Oath against drug abuse through the My Bharat Portal, reaffirming their commitment to promoting a healthy, responsible, and addiction-free society. A group meditation session was also conducted as part of the programme. A special highlight of the event was the formation of a Human Chain by the students, symbolizing unity and collective determination towards achieving the vision of a "Nasha Mukt Bharat." The activity effectively conveyed the message of social awareness and inspired everyone present to become ambassadors of the anti-drug movement.

The programme witnessed the active participation of Dr. Vikas Shukla (DSW), NSS Programme Officers – Dr. Sapan Asthana, Dr. R. P. Dixit, and Dr. Sugat Shukla, along with faculty member Dr. Ved Prakash, among others, who motivated the students to actively support national campaigns and adopt healthy lifestyles. On this significant occasion, the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bhanu Pratap Singh, Registrar, Dr. Girish Chhimwal, Deputy Registrar, Dr. Rajesh Singh and Dean Academics, Dr. Neeraj Jain, along with other university dignitaries, conveyed their best wishes and encouraged students to become responsible citizens by spreading awareness against substance abuse and contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat.

Feedback: The programme received an enthusiastic and positive response from students and faculty members. Participants expressed that the digital oath-taking, group meditation, and the human chain formation strengthened their resolve to remain committed to a drug-free lifestyle and inspired them to become ambassadors of the anti-drug movement.
