Gen Z: The Architects of Viksit Bharat @2047 through Commerce and Innovation

Organised by: Maharishi School of Business Management in association with IQAC

Objective: The Maharishi School of Business Management (Maharishi University, Lucknow Campus), in association with IQAC, celebrated Commerce Day 2026 on 3rd August 2026. The event aimed to inspire students to recognize the significant role of commerce, innovation, and entrepreneurship in shaping the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047. It also provided a platform for students to showcase their creativity, analytical abilities, and communication skills through various competitions and academic activities.

Participating Students: Students of B. Com, BBA, MBA, and M. Com

Event Details: Prof. (Major) Kaushal Kishore Shukla (Shri Jai Narain Misra Post Graduate College, Lucknow) graced the event as esteemed Chief Guest.

 The programme commenced with the traditional lamp lighting by the dignitaries. It was followed by a warm welcome address by Dr. Sandhya Sinha (Dean, MSOBM) and a graceful Saraswati Vandana presented by Ms. Rimjhim Mishra (BBA III Year). The Chief Guest was all praises for the performance and rewarded Ms. Rimjhim for the same.

Prof. Shukla delivered an enlightening address on the significance of commerce in the modern world. He explained the evolution of commerce from traditional trade to a dynamic discipline integrated with finance, technology, management, and entrepreneurship. He emphasized that commerce plays a vital role in economic growth, innovation, and nation-building. Encouraging students to adopt ethical business practices and entrepreneurial thinking, he inspired them to develop the skills required for the changing global economy.

The celebration featured a series of academic and creative competitions based on the event theme, including theme-based poster making, model making, extempore speech, and a commerce quiz competition. Students demonstrated remarkable creativity, confidence, and subject knowledge throughout the competitions.

In the model making competition, Rishika (B. Com III) secured the First Prize, while Sourabh and Vaishnavi (B. Com V) jointly won the Second Prize. In the poster making competition, Pragati Pandey (B. Com III) was awarded the First Prize, whereas Shikha Rawat (BBA III) secured the Second Prize. The extempore speech competition witnessed impressive performances, with Shriti Awasthi (BBA III) winning the First Prize and Vaibhav Srivastava securing the Second Prize. The commerce quiz competition concluded with Shivi Gupta (BBA V), Ankit Gupta (B. Com V), Utkarsh Shukla (B. Com V), Raina Dwivedi (B. Com III), and Himanshu Singh (B. Com III) emerging as the winners. The prize winners were felicitated during the prize distribution ceremony by the Chief Guest, Dean Academics and Dean MSOBM who congratulated them for their outstanding achievements and encouraged all participants to continue striving for excellence.

The programme concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Sapan Asthana. Overall, Commerce Day 2026 proved to be an enriching and memorable event that strengthened students' understanding of commerce while inspiring them to contribute meaningfully towards the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.

Students' Feedback: The participants appreciated the event for its informative guest lecture, engaging competitions, and opportunities to exhibit their creativity and knowledge. Students found the programme highly motivating and enriching, as it enhanced their understanding of commerce, innovation, leadership, and nation-building.
