Workshop on “Cyber Awareness”

Organised by: Maharishi School of Engineering and Technology in association with IQAC

Objective: The Cyber Club of Maharishi School of Engineering and Technology, MUIT Lucknow Campus, in association with IQAC, organized a Cyber Awareness Program workshop on April 4, 2026, in accordance with UGC guidelines. The primary objective of the workshop was to equip students with awareness of common cyber threats and highlight the importance of cybersecurity in the digital age. It also aimed to provide knowledge of safe online practices, cyber laws, and promote responsible digital behavior among students.

Participant Students: B. Tech (CSE), BCA, and MCA students (4th and 6th semesters)

Event Details: The workshop was conducted by Mr. Santu Purkait (Cyber Security Expert & Director, Netcamp Solutions Pvt Ltd.). He conducted an engaging and insightful session covering the fundamentals of cybersecurity, common cyber threats such as phishing, malware, hacking, and identity theft, along with preventive measures to ensure online safety. He also explained various security tools, safe browsing practices, password management techniques, and the importance of data privacy in today’s digital world.

His explanation of real-life cybercrime cases and different types of cyber-attacks helped students clearly understand practical threat scenarios. Participants were also introduced to cyber laws, digital safety guidelines, and reporting mechanisms, which enhanced their awareness of legal aspects and responsible digital behavior. This helped students connect theoretical knowledge with real-world cybersecurity challenges.

A major highlight of the event was the interactive session, where students actively participated in discussions and live demonstrations. They observed practical examples of identifying suspicious links, securing online accounts, and recognizing cyber fraud techniques. This hands-on exposure helped them develop essential skills required to stay safe and vigilant in the digital environment.

The event was successfully coordinated by Dr. Kaneez Zainab (Assistant Professors, MSOET) and Mr. Harshit Singh (Assistant Professors, MSOET).

Students Feedback: Students highly appreciated the workshop for its clear explanations, practical demonstrations, and interactive learning activities. They found the session extremely informative and useful in understanding real-world cyber threats and effective safety measures. The demonstration-based approach kept participants engaged and helped them learn how to identify risks and protect their personal information online. Many students shared that the session enhanced their awareness of cyber laws, safe online practices, and responsible digital behavior, making it valuable for both their academic and everyday use of digital platforms.
