“Agri-Entrepreneurship Development through Aromatic Plants: An Initiative of the CSIR Aroma Mission”

Objective: The Maharishi School of Agriculture, MUIT Lucknow Campus, along with IQAC, organized a guest lecture on 23rd March 2026 on Agri-Entrepreneurship Development through Aromatic Plants, An Initiative of the CSIR Aroma Mission. The lecture provided insights into emerging opportunities in aromatic crop cultivation and the role of the CSIR Aroma Mission in supporting farmers and startups.
Participating Students: B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture and M.Sc. Agriculture students.
Event Details: The lecture was delivered Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Scientist–G at CSIR–CIMAP, Lucknow. The event commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Dheeraj Yadav, Dean, MSOA, MUIT Lucknow Campus.
During the session, Dr. Kumar shared valuable insights on the potential of aromatic plants in creating new agri-business opportunities. He elaborated on cultivation practices, herbal and essential oil extraction, processing techniques, and the importance of market linkages in enhancing profitability. He also emphasized the role of aromatic crops in promoting sustainable agriculture and rural entrepreneurship.
The session was highly interactive, with active student participation through a Q&A session, making it an enriching learning experience.
The event was efficiently coordinated by Dr. B. K. Mishra, Assistant Professor (MSOA).
Students’ feedback: The students expressed a highly enthusiastic response towards the session. The lecture was regarded as both enlightening and motivating, enriching their understanding beyond theoretical concepts. Students found the session relevant, practical, and aligned with current agricultural trends. The chance to interact personally with the expert further enhanced their overall learning experience.
