Health Awareness Program on the Occasion of National Pharmacy Education Day
( Birth Anniversary of Mahadev Lal Shroff)

Objective: The Health Awareness Program was organized to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahadev Lal Shroff, observed nationwide as National Pharmacy Education Day. The initiative aimed to promote awareness of basic healthcare practices among children and staff of an orphanage. It focused on educating participants about hygiene, sanitation, safe use of medicines, and prevention of common diseases. Additionally, the program sought to instil a sense of social responsibility and community engagement among pharmacy students.

Participating Students: B. Pharm and D. Pharm students were the primary participants.

Event Details: The Maharishi School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Maharishi University of Information Technology, Lucknow Campus, organized a Health Awareness Program on 9 March 2026 at Drishti Samajik Sansthan, an orphanage dedicated to the care and support of children with multiple challenges. The event was conducted on the occasion of National Pharmacy Education Day, marking the birth anniversary of Prof. Mahadev Lal Shroff.

The program was held under the theme स्वस्थ जीवन की ओर एक पहल with the campaign मुस्कान की ओर एक प्रयास,” aiming to spread awareness about health, hygiene, sanitation, and the rational use of medicines among children and caregivers.

During the program, faculty members and pharmacy students actively engaged with the children and staff, highlighting the importance of personal hygiene, proper sanitation, balanced nutrition, preventive healthcare, and the safe use of medicines. They also emphasized consulting healthcare professionals before using any medication.

Practical demonstrations were conducted on hand hygiene, basic disease prevention, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The team also donated essential health monitoring equipment and awareness materials to support the orphanage’s healthcare needs.

The visit provided students with valuable exposure to real-world community healthcare challenges and encouraged them to contribute to social welfare through their professional knowledge and service.

Students’ Feedback: Students described the program as a meaningful and enriching experience. They appreciated the opportunity to interact with children and caregivers, promote awareness about hygiene and health, and apply their pharmaceutical knowledge in a community setting. The experience strengthened their sense of social responsibility and motivated them to participate in similar outreach initiatives in the future.
