Global Recycling Day 2026

Objective: Under the MOU with Bisleri Intrenational Pvt. Ltd., on the occasion of Global Recycling Day 2026, an outreach programme was conducted in Palhri Village (Lucknow) by the NSS Units of MUIT Lucknow Campus in collaboration with the Bisleri International Bottles for Change Initiative and IQAC, on 18th March 2026. The objective of the event was to promote awareness about plastic waste management, recycling, and environmental sustainability, in line with the theme “Don’t Think Waste. Think Opportunity!”.

Event Details: The activity began with a cleanliness drive in Palhri Village, during which volunteers actively collected plastic waste from various areas. Around 90 kg of plastic waste was gathered, demonstrating strong participation and a commitment to environmental conservation. The waste collected primarily consisted of plastic bottles, wrappers, and polythene materials. Proper sanitation and hygiene measures were strictly maintained throughout the waste collection process.
Following this, an awareness rally was conducted across the village to educate residents about waste segregation, recycling practices, and environmental sustainability. The rally reached over 1,300 villagers, spreading awareness about sustainable living. 150 student volunteers actively participated in both the cleanliness drive and the awareness campaign.
The programme was the result of the initiative and proactive approach of Dean Academics Dr. Neeraj Jain. The initiative was coordinated by the NSS Programme Officers Dr. Sapan Asthana, Dr. Ram Prakash Dixit, and Dr. Sugat Shukla, along with Mr. Adarsh Singh (CSR Executive, Bisleri International Pvt Ltd), ensuring its successful implementation.
Students’ feedback: The participating students expressed a sense of satisfaction and pride in contributing to a meaningful social cause. They highlighted that the programme enhanced their understanding of environmental issues and strengthened their sense of social responsibility. They also appreciated the opportunity to engage directly with the community and promote sustainable practices.
