Educational visit to
ICAR–Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Bareilly

Objective: An educational visit to the ICAR–Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh was organised on 09th March 2026 by the Maharishi School of Sciences (MUIT, Lucknow Campus) in association with IQAC and MIRC. The visit was aimed at enriching students’ understanding of modern veterinary technologies, disease diagnosis, and animal anatomy, while familiarizing them with ongoing research, innovation, and extension services in veterinary sciences, and inspiring curiosity, fostering scientific thinking, and encouraging interest in research and future career opportunities in related fields.
Participating Students: Undergraduate and postgraduate students of Zoology.
Visit Details: The educational visit commenced with a series of informative video presentations at ICAR–Indian Veterinary Research Institute, offering a comprehensive overview of its key activities, including lifesaving vaccination programs, advanced surgical instruments and procedures, the germplasm centre, helpline services, innovations in animal feed and nutrition, and the IVRI podcast. This introductory session helped students understand the wide scope of veterinary research, innovation, and extension services carried out at the institute.
The session was followed by an interactive presentation by Ms. Rashmi Arora (Assistant Business Manager) on startup incubation and government grant schemes, followed by an address by Dr. (Mrs.) Rupasi Tiwari, Joint Director, highlighting the institute’s history and contributions.
Continuing the visit, students toured the IVRI Museum and the Veterinary Anatomy Laboratory, where they explored specimens and anatomical structures, particularly osteology. Dr. Abhinav Verma, Senior Scientist (Veterinary Anatomy), explained the structure and functions of bones and the endoskeleton, enhancing their conceptual understanding.
Further, students visited the Veterinary Clinical Complex, gaining exposure to disease diagnosis, treatment procedures, and animal healthcare management. The visit concluded with an exploration of the exhibition area, showcasing models, charts, and technologies related to veterinary diseases and their control measures, making the experience both informative and enriching.
The visit was successfully coordinated by faculty members, Dr. Shilpa Tiwari and Dr. Ramakant.
Students’ Feedback: The students found the visit highly informative, as it enhanced their understanding of classroom concepts through exposure to specimens, laboratories, and clinical practices. It also broadened their perspective and motivated them to explore research opportunities in zoology and veterinary sciences.
