Objective: On the occasion of Social Justice Day 2026, Maharishi School of Humanities (MUIT Lucknow Campus) in association with IQAC organized a Thematic Seminar on “Justice, Equality, and Inclusion: Foundations of a Fair Society” on 20th February 2026. The objective of the seminar was to sensitize students and faculty members towards the principles of social justice, equality, inclusivity, and democratic values. It aimed to highlight the importance of eliminating discrimination and promoting equal opportunities in building a fair and just society.

Participating Students: Graduate and Postgraduate students of MSOH

Event Details: The programme commenced with a formal welcome address by Dr. Kuldeep Kumar, who introduced the theme of the seminar and emphasized the relevance of social justice in contemporary society. Dr. Rupam Singh (Dean, MSOH) addressed the gathering and delivered motivating words, encouraging students to actively contribute towards creating an inclusive and equitable society.

A special thematic lecture was delivered by Dr. Sarita Verma (Assistant Professor, MSOH) to mark the day. In her lecture, she elaborated on the concept of modern justice and explained that true justice ensures fairness, equality, and equal opportunities for all individuals. She highlighted that in the modern age, justice does not only mean legal justice or punishment for wrong actions. It means fairness, equality, and equal opportunities for all people in society. Modern justice focuses on removing discrimination based on caste, class, gender, religion, or region. Social justice requires the equal distribution of infrastructure and resources, such as education, hospitals, and health centers etc.  Social justice also means restructuring society to reduce inequality. This includes: reservation policies for SC, ST, and OBC, Women empowerment programs, and schemes for economically weaker sections. The Indian Constitution supports the idea of a welfare state, where the government works for the benefit of all sections of society. Social justice is reflected in the Fundamental Rights provided by the Indian Constitution.

The session concluded with an engaging and interactive Question & Answer round. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Vijay Srivastava, and the session was convened by Dr. Kuldeep Kumar.

Student Feedback : Students found the session informative and thought-provoking, especially the discussion on reservation policies, equal access to resources, and the elimination of social discrimination. Participants expressed that the seminar enhanced their understanding of constitutional values and the role of youth in promoting social harmony.
